Marius, like many children within the cathedrals of the Church of Light, was raised by the Church after his parents were killed during the War of the Green Heart. Within the monastery at Tulan he learned about the Lord of Light. He was a dutiful child, and showed promise in both the combat arts of the Paladins and the learning and strength of will required to be a Priest.

Unfortunately as he grew Marius began to believe that the tenants of the Church were holding it back from seizing real power. He began to research ways of using the methods of the Warlock’s to wield greater clerical powers than those available to regular priests. Eventually Bishop Arent discovered his research and he was cast out of the Church, scorned and called a heretic.

He took with him a simple crystal carving of a sun through which he believed it was possible to harness the Lord of Light’s power like never before. Growing his hair and beard out and rejecting many of the most strenuous teachings of the Church he used his fighting skills to get by. Making money as a mercenary and caravan guard he continued his research into the Undying Light and how to harness its power.

Radiant Light: After the attack on Greenest Marius was hard on himself, blaming his lack of power on those he was unable to save. He finalised his research, giving over his soul in service of the Undying Light and swearing vengeance against those who attacked the town.
