On the night of Rowan’s birth the ship carrying his mother was under the influence of a powerful maelstrom. However on the moment Rowan was birthed, the tremendous rocking of the ship ceased and his mother took him onto the deck to see that they had entered the eye of storm. The image of the raging sea battling around him was forever ingrain in his mind. From that day on Rowan loved the sea, it was at the age of 12 that he constructed a rudimentary raft that we would ride into the sea. As time went on he spent more and more time out on the sea and it was at this time that he started his deep meditation that let him commune with ocean. After these session of meditation he gained the ability to control the winds and waves to help control his vessel, even gaining the ability to predict the weather. These abilities made him valuable to ship crews and he joined many crews before amassing enough gold to buy his first ship. After this all he needed was crew and during his trip into harbor he lost a large amount of gold and the thugs took ship as capital until he could pay back his large debt.

Personality: My language is as foul as an otyugh nest.
Personality: I never pass up a friendly wager.
Ideal: Freedom. The sea is freedom—the freedom to go anywhere and do anything. (Chaotic)
Bond: I’ll always remember my first ship
Flaw: Once someone questions my courage, I never back down no matter how dangerous the situation.

Settling in Karse with his bag of platinum bars Rowan quickly gets re-accustomed to the wealthy lifestyle he had once enjoyed. Purchasing back his ship as well as a second he decks them out with golden filigree and platinum doorknobs. Filling the ship with expensive and powerful mercenaries he casts out once again, ignoring the warning the kraken gave him.
His small fleet is destroyed by the kraken, Rowan escaping back to land with a sliver of his fortune. Digging up his remaining platinum bars he purchases a wagon train and heads inland, eager to explore what life has in store for him away from the ocean.
